The first few days, weeks, even months after bringing home your new little person are a blur. I remember waking up somewhere around the time my first born hit six months feeling it was all a fever dream. I started bedrest before he came and that just started off the series of new life experiences that no matter how many books or podcasts you ingest will never prepare you for first time parenthood.

Hiring a professional photographer for newborn photos takes the stress out of the process by guiding you through every step. I know exactly where to shoot, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for your baby. With my expertise in posing, lighting, and timing, I strive to capture beautiful moments effortlessly, so you don’t have to worry about how or what to do. My goal is to create a relaxed atmosphere that results in stunning, timeless images you can cherish forever. Managing feeding schedules, diapers and follow up doctor appointments is overwhelming, but beautiful images of this precious season doesn’t have to be.

A newborn session in your home happens in whatever room you feel most comfortable in. Ideally we’ll have a window with natural light, but I have plenty of tricks and tools for homes with not a ton of natural light or those gloomy Portland days. Don’t worry about having a “Pinterest Perfect” house for your session, we’ll find a cozy spot where the focus is the baby and you. Those perfect little toes, tiny fingers and squishable cheeks are what we’re here for. A couch in the living room or queen size bed make a great spot to capture your first week together.

If your new little human is coming home to a fan club, they’re welcome to join too! Siblings, puppies, grandparents – everyone is welcome to have a moment in front of the camera too 🙂

Your lifestyle session typically takes 60-90 minutes which gives us time to get settled, take nursing or bottle breaks and of course change a diaper or two. Having your session scheduled within the first 10 days after birth allows us to try and get sleeping baby photos – but sometimes babies are awake for their whole session and that’s ok too. Baby is the creative director for this session and we go at their pace 😉
